Friends, different kinds

Dearest Friend, you are not alone,
this long and dirty road
many have fallen into path
deserters, many have gone.
I try and look for a pattern
try and see where they belong.
Each comes in a different mask
concealing feelings and features
dummies in a circus, they all.

Some enlightened ones preside over issues,
troubles and lives of others, they intent to close.
while chapters of their own life remain idle,
naked for the world to mock and poke.
While others exist solely to taunt,
to smoothen their unfulfilled life,
to lull into calm, their broken souls.

Their exists another class,
tides of time have drawn them away,
vast ocean stretches and holds on.
I see their form but features remain unknown.
But this class brings along, a flicker of faith.
With our each reflex, they can gauge,
our trapped pain, anger or a lost hope.
Maybe tides took away our footsteps,
but buried deep under this sand
our time and imprints remain unknown.

While some ran away,
without a solitary bye.
In this endless world of
unknown masked men and women,
they simply wanna hide.
But reappear they do,
sometimes in a broken memory or an incomplete smile.
Reassuring us they have gone,
with them they have taken away their time.

While to some cast away,
this ink would be a waste.
They rob us of our most cherished portion,
they rob us of our memories
and everything that box contained.
Brothers in arms they sing,
while quietly moving away,
daggers are all they leave.

End hasn’t reached quite yet,
It’ll take some more blank pages,
some empty days and alone nights.
Still the journey moves to find the one,
with whom destination of life can be reached.
One, who escapes the baggage of time and distance,
one who will remain.
To that one I will call true,
till then I still see you all as Friends,
Friends, though of different kinds.
